The articles about each game are great for
looking back and remembering exactly what happened for each game. You can find
out which team won, who the stars of the game were and how the game played out.
The articles are great for a general reference point but what about your
memories that you had about that particular game/season. Did you attend a game
and have a whole different viewpoint then the newspaper reporter may
have had? Was there something special that stood out to you that the newspaper
didn't cover? Was there a special occasion or event surrounding the game that
you remember when you look back? Well if so, I want to hear from you! I want
HokieHistory.com to not only have the newspapers point of the view of the
game/season but I also want the fan's perspective. I want to hear about your
personal experience. Were you a student at the time and you remember the pregame
festivites or the post game celebrations that you were apart of? Does a certain
game stand out to you because it was your first Virginia Tech game? Did your
dad/mom/family take you to your first game and is that why it you remember it?
Or do you remember growing up and your dad would always tell you about that
"great" or "miraculous" game he saw? These are the kind of things I'm looking
for.
My plan is to put the "fan's perspective" along side every
newspaper article so people can read about what it was like being there. I'm
looking for first-hand accounts (or secondary accounts you've heard from your
dad/mom/uncle/family/etc.) that made a particular game/season special for you or
them. It doesn't have to be professionally written or anything fancy. I just
want to know about your experience. If you know other Hokie fan's who have great
stories to tell, have them e-mail their accounts. I want as many "fan
perspectives" as I can get to go along with every game.
