HokieHistory.com was created and designed in May 2009. The reason I created the site was because I'm a huge Virginia Tech football and basketball fan but I've always had trouble finding anything online about the history of each program. I would either have to look through old magazines I had for information or ask someone else who may have remembered a particular game or player. The internet has made it possible to search and find stuff easier but there was still no great resource to be able to get details and good accounts on past VT football and basketball games. UNTIL NOW! This is where HokieHistory.com comes into play. Thanks to the Roanoke Times, who gave me permission to reproduce old VT football & basketball articles, I am in the process of uploading past seasons and making them avaialable online for fans to read and relive the great moments in Tech history.

I am currently in the process of working on the football portion of the site. I have uploaded over thirty seasons so far of past Virginia Tech football seasons, which roughly means over 300 games are online for you to go and look back on. I expect it to take me about two months to complete the entire football portion, from the program's inception in 1892 to the present with last year's (2008) season. I hope to have it completed by the time Virginia Tech kicks-off it's 2009 season against Alabama.

Once the football portion is complete, I will begin to work on the basketball portion. Again, I expect it to take about two months to complete and hope to have it done by the time Tech kick's off the season in November 2009.

All articles are in .PDF format, which are Adobe Acrobat files. If you do not have an Adobe Acrobat reader, you can download one for free by clicking here: Adobe Acrobat Website. With the Adobe Acrobat reader, you can zoom in/out to help you read the articles. The typical setup for the articles is that there usually is a wide-shot if it's a full page article and then the next page will be a  zoomed in shot so you can read it better. There are also pictures along with the articles, although some did not turn out great.

Again, all articles are copyrighted by the Roanoke Times Newspaper and may not be reproduced, reprinted or redistributed without the expressed written consent of the Roanoke Times. I again would like to say thank you to the Roanoke Times for allowing me to work on this project.

I am constantly working on this website and typically update it once a week, although I am getting articles on a daily basis. If you want to know when it is updated, you can follow me on at http://twitter.com/hokiehistory.com. Also, I usually post something once a week on Techsideline.com on their football message board letting people know the site has been updated.

Thank you SO much for visiting the site. Please look around and see what's here. And please pass the word on the fellow Hokies who don't know about the site. I am always looking for feedback so please e-mail me with comments/suggestions/questions/etc. anytime and I will get back to you. Also, if there is a particular year you would like me to upload sooner than usual, feel free to e-mail me and I will do my best to get it online within two weeks, if not sooner. There really is no particular order I'm uploading articles/seasons in so I'm open to uploading anything at anytime.
